December 22, 2025 is a key date in my healing from the collision I was in September 11, 2025 as today is my "will resume to her pre-MVA hours of work" according to the return to work plan. As a solopreneur it seems weird that there was a return to work plan that I needed to follow to get back to work in the pottery studio. To me the experts have told me that December 22 is the key date to my recovery, yet my body is reminding me that I am not what I was pre-accident. I so want to be throwing 40 pieces a day, lifting the 50lb boxes of clay, moving pottery around in the studio and into the kiln and out to the store. I AM getting close so December 22nd is my date of "I'M BACK"

On September 11, 2025 the paramedics and the doctor and nurses told me that day three was going to be so horrible after the hospital...they were right! They needed to say that I need to understand that once I get the neck collar off and not having to use the Ice blankets for the pain it will be many many weeks before I get back to creating as much as I do in the studio. Physio, Chiro and Massage let me in on that little secrete. As I sit here 102 days from the accident, I am so proud of my healing, knowing that I will still be regularly visiting Chiro, Physio and Massage to get to the clay-clay (my take on cray-cray) level that I was at.
So many lessons that I have learnt over the past 102 days, and many more that will be realized I think. Working with SGI accident claim taught me that my career isn't something many understand. I don't fit many boxes in their understanding of my workability. For example: How many hours do you work? hmmmmmmm....depends? Am I creating pottery for the store for sale? Am I hosting a claycation? Am I teaching workshops? And then the next question of how much do you lift? How many steps to the kilns from the wheels? (not taking pottery directly to the kiln from the pottery wheel)
The life of the potter who makes pottery and sells in the highway store, a potter that has a pottery experience hosting up to 6 peoples for 46 hours, a potter who was smack dab in the middle of a huge building of a new studio, a potter who is so passionate about creating has so many projects or ideas and resting isn't something she does well or wants to do well. So I have rested for 102 days in various ways. For 102 days, I have worked hard to get to be able to throw daily.
And today on December 22, 2025 I am excited that I am creating pottery and filling the highway store. I was able to host 6 Claycations in October/November which means I am nearly caught up on the ones I cancelled in September. The School House Studio is nearly done, but has been in full use for Claycations. I now am working on building my stamina and throw with bigger amounts of clay and when I can carry a box of clay down the stairs into the pottery studio and my left shoulder can handle it I will be back to my pre-MVA duties. Until then I will just keep building up my stamina!
