The Story Behind the Mural at Freba Pottery

The mural at Freba Pottery was born out of pure creativity and a shared love for art. Working with the talented Mel Chorney, we spent two days transforming the natural shapes on the building’s wall into a vibrant, flowing design. Inspired by the style of Norval Morrisseau, our mural morphed into various forms, each brushstroke adding life to the space.

During those two days, we were completely immersed in a creative haze—painting, designing, and marveling at how it all came together. My husband supported us by cooking meals and even moving the car to provide light as the sun went down on Saturday evening. By Sunday, we sat back in lawn chairs, admiring the beauty of what we’d created just for the joy of it.

What makes the mural even more special is that it remains hidden until you walk around the building and discover it for yourself. I love the element of surprise it brings, much like the discovery of my highway store, which operates on the honor system. Finding the mural is a whimsical experience, adding to the charm of Freba Pottery.
